Puttaparthi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 100th birth anniversary
celebrations of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh.
He paid tribute by releasing a commemorative coin and postage stamp in honor of
Bhagwan Baba.
As part of the celebrations, Modi visited the Maha Sannidhi at Prasanthi Nilayam
and participated in the centenary event at Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium. He
also gave a special speech during the ceremony.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born on 23rd November 1928 in Puttaparthi. His birthday,
called his incarnation day, is celebrated every year with great devotion.
The 100th anniversary celebrations began on 13th November and will continue
until 24th November in Puttaparthi.
The event saw participation from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu,
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, actress
Aishwarya Rai, and devotees from 140 countries.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba is remembered not only for his spiritual teachings but
also for his social work. Through the Sri Sathya Sai Foundation, he provided
education, medical care, and other basic needs to the poor free of cost.
His hospitals and educational institutions in Puttaparthi continue to serve
people even today.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Puttaparthi in the morning and was warmly
welcomed by devotees. After visiting Prasanthi Nilayam and having darshan
at the Maha Sannidhi, he released the commemorative coin and stamp and attended
various cultural programs held during the ceremony.
The Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to participate in the
convocation ceremony of Sathya Sai Nigami University on 22nd November.
