Top Kollywood music composer Anirudh Ravichander is planning to start his own independent music label, according to sources.
Anirudh, who is the music director for Vetrimaaran’s upcoming film Arasan, has reportedly decided not to take a salary for the project. Instead, he has kept the full audio rights to the film. He plans to use these rights as the first release for his new music label.
From now on, all his independent singles, non-film albums, and music rights for future movies will also come under his label. This move has surprised the big music companies in the industry.
In recent years, Anirudh’s songs from hit films like Vikram, Jailer, Master, Don, and Beast have earned huge revenue for music companies. If he starts keeping and releasing his own music, it could affect the business of major labels, as they may no longer get the rights to his work.
Sources say Anirudh has already shared his plan with close friends and associates. An official announcement about the name and launch of his music label is expected soon.
