David Ellison Loves Keeping His Company in LA

David Ellison, the head of Paramount Skydance, has reaffirmed his commitment to keeping the company’s future headquarters in Los Angeles as the proposed combination with Warner Bros. Discovery moves forward.

Ellison made the comments after Paramount Skydance reached a settlement with California Attorney General Rob Bonta. The agreement helped resolve a major legal challenge connected to the proposed transaction and allows the companies to continue focusing on the next stages of the deal.

Ellison said the combined company will be headquartered in Los Angeles and stressed that the businesses have no plans to leave the city. He pointed to Hollywood’s long history and the role Los Angeles continues to play in the entertainment industry.

The statement comes at a time when California has been concerned about the movement of film and television production to other states and countries. Keeping major entertainment companies and their operations in Los Angeles is therefore significant for the region’s media industry and workforce.

Under the settlement with Bonta, Paramount agreed to several commitments related to its operations in California. The company has said it intends to continue investing in film and television production and supporting Hollywood as the merger process moves ahead.

The settlement followed a legal challenge in which California officials raised concerns about the proposed transaction. Reaching an agreement removes one of the major legal hurdles facing Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, although other regulatory and legal steps remain part of the process.

Ellison has presented the agreement as an opportunity to move forward and concentrate on strengthening the combined business. His comments also signal an effort to reassure employees and the wider Hollywood community about the company’s long-term presence in Los Angeles.

The proposed combination would bring together two major entertainment businesses with extensive film, television and streaming operations. If completed, the new company would have a significant presence in Hollywood and across the global entertainment market.

For Los Angeles, Ellison’s commitment could help reinforce the city’s position as a major centre for film and television production. The companies’ future investments and production decisions will determine how much of their activity remains in the region.

As the transaction moves through its remaining stages, Ellison’s message is clear: Los Angeles will remain central to the combined company’s plans and its connection to Hollywood.
