October 2025 became the biggest month for movie theatres this year, earning an
estimated ₹1,680 crore, according to a report by Ormax. The report says this is
only the fifth time since the pandemic that monthly box office collections have
gone above ₹1,500 crore, showing a strong return of audiences to cinemas.
The main reason for this huge jump was the film Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1,
which alone brought in 44% of all earnings for the month. The movie collected
around ₹735 crore, making it the highest-grossing film of 2025 so far.
The success of Kantara played a major role in boosting the overall numbers
and helped theatres record one of their best months in recent years.
