Filmmaker James Cameron has strongly criticized the 1992 sci-fi movie Alien 3, saying that its opening ruined much of the story he had created in Aliens (1986), according to People.
Cameron, who directed Aliens, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 original Alien, talked about the film during a recent episode of the podcast Just Foolin’ About with Michael Biehn, which was released on December 23.
The 71-year-old director said that the decision to kill off key characters at the start of Alien 3 was very disappointing. He felt it undermined the work and story he had built in Aliens, making the film less satisfying for fans.
