Rajiv Menon, one of Tamil cinema’s leading cinematographers, directors, and actors, has shared his experience of shooting a special promo featuring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan under director Nelson.
Rajiv Menon, who has worked in many important films and later also turned actor with Viduthalai, recently spoke about this experience during an interview while promoting his latest film Patriot.
He said that working on the promo shoot for two legendary actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan was a memorable experience.
According to him, director Nelson brought his own unique style to the shoot, especially his use of black comedy and his method of taking multiple retakes. Rajiv mentioned that some scenes were shot up to 20 takes to get the perfect result.
He also shared interesting behind-the-scenes details about how carefully the team worked to match the screen presence of both superstars. In one scene, where Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were supposed to stand together, there was a height difference between them.
To solve this, Rajinikanth reportedly removed his shoes and stood barefoot so that both actors would appear equal on screen. Rajiv Menon highlighted this as an example of Rajinikanth’s professionalism and respect for co-actors.
He praised both stars for their dedication and said the experience of filming the promo was truly special for the entire crew.
The promo shoot has created strong excitement among fans, as it brings together two of Indian cinema’s biggest icons in one frame.
