Udo Kier, Legendary German Actor, Dies Aged 81

Famous German actor Udo Kier has died at 81. His partner, artist Delbert
McBride, confirmed his death to Variety on Sunday. Kier appeared in over 200
films, mostly in Germany, but also in several Hollywood movies. He also acted
in music videos and lent his voice to characters in notable fantasy films.

Kier started his acting career in 1966 with the German short film Road to Saint
Tropez. His first full-length film, Shameless, came out in 1968. He gained wider
recognition with Michael Armstrong’s 1970 horror film Mark of the Devil. Kier
went on to act in many horror and thriller movies, including Paul Morrissey’s
Flesh for Frankenstein (1973), released in the US as Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein,
where he played the monster.
