217 Hospitals Fail to Report Transplant Data

The Minister of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav, informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) that out of 804 hospitals registered for organ transplantation in India, 217 hospitals did not submit their data to the National Registry Portal in 2025.

The National Registry Portal is a government platform that collects information on organ transplants performed across the country. Accurate reporting is important to track medical procedures, maintain transparency, and ensure that organ transplants are carried out safely and legally.

Minister Jadhav said that the State governments will take action against the hospitals that failed to report their data. These actions may include warnings, fines, or other regulatory measures as per the law.

The move is part of the government’s effort to improve compliance, monitor organ transplantation activities, and ensure ethical practices in all hospitals performing these procedures.

Officials have emphasized that timely reporting on the portal is mandatory for all registered hospitals, and failure to comply can affect the hospital’s license and registration status.

By enforcing proper reporting, authorities aim to strengthen organ donation programs, improve patient safety, and ensure transparency in the healthcare system.
