Here’s a simple version of your air fryer roast chicken recipe:
Ingredients
20g (¾ oz) softened butter
1 whole chicken (about 1.4–1.5 kg / 3–3.5 lb)
½ lemon
2 garlic cloves (whole)
A handful of thyme or a few rosemary sprigs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C. Rub the softened butter all over the chicken skin and season with salt and pepper.
Put the lemon half, garlic, and thyme or rosemary inside the chicken cavity.
Roast the chicken breast-side down for 30 minutes.
Flip the chicken so it’s breast-side up and roast for another 35 minutes.
Check that the chicken is fully cooked — the juices should run clear when you pierce the thickest part of the breast or thigh with a skewer or knife.
Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before carving.
This method keeps the breast moist and gives the skin a nice golden crisp.
