Daily Habits Quietly Increase Risk of Heart Disease

Heart disease usually develops slowly without obvious warning signs. Everyday habits
can quietly harm the heart and blood vessels over time.

Dr. Aniruddha Mandal, a cardiologist at BM Birla Heart Hospital, told Indiatoday that
people often ignore the risks in their daily routines, which can be more harmful than
obvious factors.

“Many think heart disease happens suddenly, but it builds up slowly, one habit at a
time,” Dr. Mandal said. “Spending too much time sitting, scrolling on your phone late at
night, skipping walks, smoking to relax, or eating unhealthy snacks instead of proper
meals—all increase heart risk.”

Making small changes, like exercising regularly, eating healthy meals, and avoiding
smoking, can protect the heart and prevent serious problems in the future.
