The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) of the Health Ministry has said that all health facilities and related agencies across the country have been put on alert. This step has been taken as a safety measure to prepare for any possible spread of the Nipah virus.
In a statement, the division said hospitals, clinics, and health workers have been cautioned and advised to stay prepared. They have been asked to closely watch for symptoms and respond quickly if any suspected cases appear.
Officials also shared that a special tracking system and response plan, called the Nipah virus algorithm, has been created. This system will help health authorities identify cases early, trace contacts, and control the spread of the virus. The plan has been prepared after recent reports of Nipah infections in neighboring India.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, the Union Health Ministry said that only two confirmed cases of Nipah virus disease have been reported in India since December last year. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation carefully.
Health experts say that early preparation and quick action are important to prevent any outbreak. The ministry has urged the public to stay calm, follow health guidelines, and report symptoms immediately.
