The deal to reduce US tariffs on Indian goods was finalised during a phone call between the leaders of India and the United States. During the call, they spoke about improving trade and building stronger economic ties between the two countries.
After their discussion, both leaders shared the news on their official social media accounts and confirmed that the agreement had been reached.
In a late-night message on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had a friendly and positive talk with US President Donald Trump. He wrote that he was happy that “Made in India” products will now face a lower tariff of 18 per cent in the US.
Because of this lower tariff, Indian products will cost less in the American market. This will make them more competitive and easier to sell. It is expected to help Indian businesses grow, increase exports, and create more jobs.
Officials say this step will improve trade relations between India and the US and create more opportunities for businesses in both countries in the future.
