At least 13 people were killed after a suspected gas explosion caused a house to collapse in Karachi, Pakistan, today. The incident took place in the Soldier Bazar area.
Officials said the blast was likely caused by a gas leak, but the exact reason is still being investigated. The strong explosion led to the building suddenly collapsing, trapping many people under the debris.
Rescue teams reached the area quickly and started search operations. So far, 11 people have been rescued from the rubble and taken to a nearby hospital.
Authorities are using heavy machines and rescue workers to clear the debris and look for any more survivors. Police, ambulance teams, and other emergency services are present at the site.
Officials said a full investigation will be carried out to find out what caused the explosion. They also advised residents to regularly check their gas connections to prevent such accidents.
Rescue work is still going on as teams continue to search the collapsed building to make sure no one is left trapped.
