Many residents of the city’s fishing hamlets are facing problems while trying to update their important documents, such as Aadhar cards and nativity certificates. The main reason is the lack of proper addresses in official records. People say that the names of streets and localities are missing, which makes it difficult to update their information online or in government offices.
Kabaddi Maran, a resident of Nochikuppam, shared his experience. He said, “We realized this problem when we tried to get our nativity certificates. The State government had announced that we could get these certificates without paying any fee, as many residents were facing address issues on their Aadhar and voter ID cards. But when I tried to update my address, I could not find the name of my street or area in the online system. At the E-Seva centre, the official said he could update only certain details and not the street or locality name.”
Residents say this problem affects not only nativity certificates but also other essential services that require proper proof of address. They are urging the government to update the records and include the names of all streets and localities in fishing hamlets, so that people can access documents easily and avoid unnecessary delays.
