A Mumbai-bound Air India flight, AI 887, returned to Delhi airport shortly after
take-off due to a technical problem. The pilot reported a serious issue, following
which a full emergency was declared at 6.40 am. The flight made an emergency landing
as per standard safety procedures.
An Air India spokesperson said the Boeing 777 aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and
all passengers and crew got down safely. According to reports, the aircraft developed
an engine problem soon after take-off. The plane is now undergoing detailed technical checks.
The airline arranged another Boeing 777 aircraft for the passengers and also provided
refreshments while they waited, according to reports.
