Air India, IndiGo Planes Touch at Mumbai Airport

The wingtips of two passenger aircraft — one operated by Air India and the other by IndiGo — touched each other at Mumbai airport on Tuesday evening (February 3, 2026). The minor collision happened while the planes were on the ground, according to airport officials.

Soon after the incident, both aircraft were stopped from operating and were taken for detailed safety checks. Engineers began inspecting the planes to make sure there was no damage before allowing them to fly again.

Officials confirmed that all passengers and crew members on both flights were safe. No injuries were reported. The incident caused some delays, as the aircraft had to be grounded for inspection.

Preliminary information suggests that the contact happened when the planes were either taxiing or parked close to each other on the airport apron. Authorities are now looking into the exact cause of the incident and following standard safety procedures.

Airport and airline officials said passenger safety remains the top priority, and necessary steps are being taken to avoid such incidents in the future.
