Alana King Regains Top Bowling Ranking

Australian leg-spinner Alana King has once again topped the ICC women’s ODI bowling rankings after a standout performance during her team’s tour of the Caribbean. New Zealand’s batters also saw significant improvements in their batting rankings following strong showings against South Africa.

In the final match against West Indies in St Kitts, Alana King took an impressive five wickets for just 19 runs in 10 overs, including 44 dot balls. This crucial performance helped Australia win by nine wickets and secure a 3-0 series sweep. Her efforts pushed her ahead of England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who had previously held the top spot.

With 753 rating points, Alana King now leads the bowling rankings. She also moved up to seventh place in the all-rounder rankings, earning 281 points and overtaking England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt.

In New Zealand, Maddy Green climbed four places to ninth with a career-best rating of 642. Amelia Kerr had an exceptional performance, scoring an unbeaten 179 runs in just 139 balls during the second ODI against South Africa. This remarkable innings not only led her team to victory but also set a new record for the highest successful run chase in women’s ODIs. Kerr now sits at 14th place and has moved ahead of Marizanne Kapp in the all-rounder rankings.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Chloe Tryon and Sune Luus each rose two spots, reaching joint 12th and 15th places respectively, thanks to their contributions during the series.
