Legendary spinner Anil Kumble has praised Rajasthan Royals batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his bold and effective batting against Jasprit Bumrah during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match. In a rain-interrupted game between RR and Mumbai Indians in Guwahati, Sooryavanshi showcased exceptional skills by outsmarting one of the world’s best bowlers.
Kumble highlighted how Sooryavanshi cleverly read Bumrah’s deliveries, set him up for slower balls, and capitalized with aggressive shots. This approach led to a high strike rate and consistent performances from the young batter.
Sooryavanshi made his IPL debut against Bumrah, hitting two sixes in the second over. Despite facing only 14 balls, he scored an impressive 39 runs. His partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal proved decisive, as both batters dominated the bowlers. Their combined efforts helped RR reach a strong score of 150/3 before Bumrah and other bowlers restricted MI to 123/9 in the shortened match.
RR now leads the IPL points table with three wins out of three matches. Meanwhile, MI has struggled, losing two games after their opening win against Kolkata Knight Riders.
