Darwin [Australia], August 12 (ANI): Australia has revealed its team for the first Test against Bangladesh. Veteran fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will play instead of Scott Boland. The team includes their main pace trio: Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Hazlewood.
Captain Cummins confirmed that Boland won’t be part of the squad.Hazlewood is back after missing eight months. Nathan Lyon also returns to the team after recovering from a hamstring injury during the Ashes.
All-rounder Cameron Green keeps his spot alongside Beau Webster. Australia continues to include two pace-bowling all-rounders in their lineup.
Boland played in all five Ashes Tests last summer but missed this time due to Cummins, Hazlewood, and Lyon’s absence. He is still expected to be important for Australia as they have a busy schedule ahead, possibly playing up to 21 Tests in the next year.
The first Test will take place from August 13 to 17 at Marrara Stadium in Darwin. The second Test will be held from August 22 to 26 at Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
These matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 cycle. Australia is currently ranked second, while Bangladesh is fourth.
