Ash Gardner, an all-rounder from Australia, has urged her team to finish the series strongly as they aim for a clean sweep against the West Indies in the final ODI match on Thursday. This comes ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year.
The Australian team is looking to win all six matches in the series, with only one game remaining in St Kitts. They have already secured a 3-0 victory in the T20I series earlier this month. Gardner wants her teammates to remain focused and not become complacent as they approach the final match of their tour.
“We want to win every game we play for our country,” Gardner said. “As the season comes to an end, we’re all excited to finish on a high note before heading into what will be a busy summer ahead.”
The tour has been challenging for Gardner personally, as she missed two matches due to a hamstring injury during the T20I series. However, she has performed well in the ODIs, taking crucial wickets.
Gardner also shared her thoughts on working with new captain Sophie Molineux. She described their partnership as positive and fun, highlighting how Molineux brings energy and care to the team. Gardner expressed excitement about the future and the potential of the squad under their leadership.
