Baloch Group Accuses Pakistan of Human Rights Abuses

The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has raised serious concerns about human rights violations in Balochistan. These concerns were presented during a session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Geneva.

BNM chairman Naseem Baloch accused Pakistani authorities of carrying out actions such as enforced disappearances, unlawful killings, and torture in the region. He said that many families in Balochistan are still searching for missing relatives and have not received justice. According to him, these issues have been ongoing for many years and continue to affect ordinary people.

During the session, BNM also spoke about Pakistan’s trade relationship with the European Union. Pakistan currently receives special trade benefits under a program called GSP+ (Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus). This program allows countries to export goods to the EU at lower or zero tariffs, but only if they meet certain conditions, including respecting human rights and maintaining democratic values.

Naseem Baloch argued that Pakistan is failing to meet these conditions. He urged EU leaders to review whether Pakistan should continue receiving these trade benefits. According to him, allowing such benefits without proper checks may weaken the importance of human rights commitments.

In a related development, Kasim Khan, the son of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, also addressed the issue at an international level. He called on the United Nations to put pressure on Pakistan to release his father, who is currently in prison.

Imran Khan has earlier criticized the judiciary in Pakistan, accusing some judges of not acting fairly and making decisions for personal benefit. His legal troubles have been widely discussed both within the country and internationally. Recently, he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were convicted in a corruption case linked to funds from a charity known as the Al-Qadir Trust.

These developments have brought more global attention to political and human rights issues in Pakistan. International organizations and leaders are closely watching the situation, while activists continue to call for accountability, justice, and protection of basic rights for all citizens.
