A much-awaited concert by famous Bangladeshi rock singer James, also known as Nagar Baul, was cancelled yesterday after violence broke out at Faridpur Zila School. At least 25 people were injured in the incident.
The trouble started when a group of outsiders allegedly tried to enter the concert venue by force. They reportedly threw bricks and stones at the place. Students present at the school resisted, which led to clashes between the two groups.
Several people were injured during the violence. As the law and order situation worsened, the district administration ordered the organisers to cancel the concert. An official announcement was later made to inform the public about the cancellation.
James, whose full name is Faruq Mahfuz Anam James, is one of the most popular and influential rock musicians in Bangladesh and is often called a pioneer of rock music in the country.
