BJP Leader Warns of Centre-State Tensions in Keralam

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday warned that protests and incidents involving the security convoys of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan during their visits to Keralam could affect relations between the Centre and the state.

In a Facebook post, Chandrasekhar shared photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi being welcomed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay during Modi’s recent visit to the state. He referred to the welcome as an example of how leaders from different levels of government could maintain a positive relationship.

Chandrasekhar expressed concern over recent incidents in Keralam involving the security convoys of senior national leaders. He warned that such developments could create the impression that relations between the state government and the Union government were strained.

He also said that tensions between the Centre and the state could have wider effects, particularly on investment and employment opportunities. According to his remarks, a negative political environment could affect confidence among businesses and investors.

His comments highlighted the importance of maintaining good relations between the state and central governments, especially when senior national leaders visit a state. However, the long-term impact of the incidents on Centre-state relations, investment and jobs remains uncertain.
