‘Breaking Bad’ Actor RJ Mitte Dies at 34

RJ Mitte, the American actor best known for playing Walter White Jr in the popular television drama Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34. The news of his death was confirmed by his representative, who described him as a beloved actor, philanthropist, and strong supporter of disability rights.

In a statement shared with the BBC, Mitte’s representative expressed deep sadness over his passing. The actor reportedly died in Brownsville, Texas. However, the exact cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.

Mitte became widely recognised for his role in Breaking Bad, the award-winning drama series starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. He played Walter White Jr, the son of the main character, Walter White. His performance received attention for its realistic portrayal of a young person living with cerebral palsy, a condition that Mitte also had in real life.

His experience helped him bring authenticity to the character. Through his work on the show, Mitte helped raise awareness about disability and encouraged greater representation of people with disabilities in the entertainment industry. He was also part of the cast that received a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2014 for its work on the series.

Beyond acting, Mitte was actively involved in charity work and disability rights advocacy. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, supporting efforts to improve awareness and opportunities for people with disabilities.

He also established The Mitte Foundation to support charitable activities and community initiatives. Through the foundation and his public platform, he worked to challenge common stereotypes and promote inclusion. His efforts focused on encouraging society to recognise the abilities and contributions of people with disabilities.

Mitte’s representative, Sean Reilly, said the actor used his influence to promote disability awareness and encourage better representation. His work extended beyond television, making him known for his commitment to social causes and philanthropy.

The Brownsville Police Department also confirmed Mitte’s death in a statement to the BBC. According to the police, the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, and the investigation is continuing. Authorities said that no foul play was suspected at this stage.

Mitte’s death marks the loss of an actor who made a lasting impression through his role in one of television’s most recognised drama series. His contributions to disability awareness, inclusion, and charitable work also formed an important part of his public life.
