The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Atlanta Braves 2-1 on Friday after an excellent pitching performance from Jacob Misiorowski.
Misiorowski pitched six scoreless innings and struck out six batters. He allowed the Braves’ hitters very few opportunities and helped the Brewers take control of the game early.
The young pitcher also had the chance to face Chris Sale, a player he has admired. Misiorowski ended up having the stronger performance and helped Milwaukee secure an important victory.
Misiorowski threw 96 pitches, with many of them reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. His fastest pitch reached an impressive 103.1 mph. He also used his slider more often than usual, making it harder for Atlanta’s batters to predict his pitches.
Brewers Score Twice in Third Inning
Milwaukee scored both of its runs in the third inning.
Luis Lara and Jackson Chourio started the rally by hitting singles. Lara later scored when William Contreras delivered an important hit.
Chourio then came home when Andrew Vaughn hit a sacrifice fly. Those two runs gave the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
Contreras was one of the best players of the game. He finished 4-for-4 at the plate, giving the Brewers several important hits.
He also made an excellent defensive play in the sixth inning. Contreras made a difficult catch to prevent Matt Olson from getting a hit and helped protect Milwaukee’s lead.
Braves Fight Back
Atlanta finally got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning. Michael Harris II hit a run-scoring single to bring the Braves within one run.
The Braves then created another opportunity by loading the bases. However, they were unable to score again, allowing Milwaukee to keep its narrow advantage.
The Brewers’ bullpen managed to hold off Atlanta’s late pressure.
In the ninth inning, Mike Yastrzemski reached base with a single, and Lane Thomas stole second base. The Braves had another chance to tie the game.
However, Ronald Acuña Jr. struck out, ending the Braves’ final scoring opportunity and securing the Brewers’ 2-1 victory.
Strong Night for Milwaukee
Misiorowski’s performance was the biggest reason for Milwaukee’s win. His fast pitches and effective slider kept Atlanta’s powerful batting line-up under control for six innings.
The victory also highlighted the Brewers’ ability to win a close game. They scored only two runs but received strong pitching and excellent defensive support.
Misiorowski continues to attract attention with his impressive season. He leads the league with a 1.68 ERA and 216 strikeouts, showing why he has become one of Milwaukee’s most important pitchers.
The Brewers will now look to continue their strong form in the next game against Atlanta.
Next Game
The Brewers will send Logan Henderson to the mound on Saturday, while the Braves are expected to start Martín Pérez.
After losing the opening game of the series, Atlanta will look to bounce back, while Milwaukee will try to maintain its momentum and win again.
