BRS Legislator Kavitha Arrested in Delhi Excise Policy Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended Bharat Rashtra Samithi legislator K. Kavitha in connection with policy case. Kavitha, previously in judicial custody in Tihar Jail on money laundering charges, faced arrest after the CBI obtained approval from a special court.

Allegations suggest Kavitha’s involvement in a “South Group” that purportedly paid ₹100 crore in kickbacks to AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, for favorable treatment in excise policy formulation. The CBI’s case, initiated in August 2022, implicates Sisodia and others for allegedly tweaking the policy to benefit license holders. The “South Group” reportedly received stakes in Indo Spirits company as part of the illicit deal, leading to Kavitha’s arrest.
