A bus accident in eastern Mexico has killed at least 10 people and injured 32 others, officials in the state of Veracruz said on Thursday.
The accident happened on Christmas Eve in the town of Zontecomatlan. The bus was travelling from Mexico City to the village of Chicontepec when it crashed.
The mayor’s office in Zontecomatlan said that nine adults and one child have been confirmed dead. The local authorities also released a list of the 32 injured people and named the hospitals where they are being treated.
Road accidents involving buses and trucks are common in Mexico. Many of these accidents are caused by overspeeding or mechanical problems.
