A businessman named Rana Suryavanshi was injured after two men attacked him near Baramati airport in Pune district on Sunday evening, October 18, 2026. The incident took place at around 7:30 p.m. while Suryavanshi was in the area for personal work. He was accompanied by his private bodyguard when the attack happened.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Chaitanya Kadam, the two attackers arrived on a scooter and approached Suryavanshi, pretending to be his fans. They reportedly acted as though they wanted to present him with a bouquet. However, they suddenly attacked him, leaving him injured. The exact reason behind the attack is not yet known.
After the incident, Suryavanshi was taken to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune for medical treatment. Hospital officials said he was kept under observation, and a medical team was closely monitoring his condition. Doctors planned to conduct a detailed examination to understand the extent of his injuries and decide on the next steps in his treatment.

The incident has raised concerns about public safety and law and order in Maharashtra. NCP (SP) leader and Baramati Member of Parliament Supriya Sule described the attack as extremely shocking. She criticised the state’s law enforcement system and questioned how criminals could carry out such serious attacks while ordinary citizens continued to feel unsafe.
Sule also called for immediate action from the state government. She urged the Home Department, headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, to take the incident seriously, identify and arrest those responsible, and strengthen security measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.

In a separate incident in Mumbai, Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped without injuries after gunmen allegedly opened fire in the Juhu area.
