Byron Buxton hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Minnesota Twins a 10-3 lead over the Washington Nationals. This was Buxton’s sixth homer in his last eight games and his eleventh of the season. Brooks Lee also had a strong game, driving in three runs with two doubles, while Trevor Larnach added two hits and RBIs.
Taj Bradley pitched well for the Twins, striking out eight batters in six innings and allowing only two earned runs. On the other side, Cade Cavalli struggled for the Nationals, giving up six runs over four innings. The Nationals’ offense managed a few hits but failed to generate enough momentum, dropping their home record to 4-13 this season.
In key moments, Kody Clemens was hit by a pitch and Luke Keaschall got an infield single before Lee doubled to give the Twins an early lead. Later, Austin Martin’s single and walks loaded the bases, leading to multiple runs for Minnesota. The Nationals briefly tied the game in the first inning but couldn’t overcome the Twins’ strong pitching and hitting.
The Twins’ Bailey Ober is set to pitch tomorrow against Miles Mikolas in the second game of their three-game series.
