Cabinet Clears Draft Law for Women’s Quota

The Union Cabinet of India has approved a draft law to put the Women’s Reservation Act into action by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. The decision was taken during a meeting led by Narendra Modi.

This new step is meant to support the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which was passed in 2023. The law aims to give more opportunities for women to take part in politics.

Under this plan, a certain number of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures will be reserved for women. The government wants to make sure this system is properly set up before the 2029 elections.

The goal of this move is to increase women’s representation in decision-making roles and make politics more inclusive. It is also expected to encourage more women to join public life and take part in shaping the country’s future.

Overall, this decision shows the government’s effort to strengthen gender equality in politics and ensure women have a bigger voice in governance.
