An uneasy calm continued in the violence-hit areas of Assam’s West
Karbi Anglong district, with no new incidents reported, officials said
on Thursday (December 25, 2025). A large number of security personnel
have been deployed and are keeping strict watch in the area.
Tension between the Karbi and Bihari communities has been ongoing in the
district. The dispute is over allegations that Hindi-speaking people have
encroached on Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) and Professional Grazing Reserve
(PGR) lands in the tribal areas.
