The Central government has approved an increase in the number of MGNREGA workdays
in Jammu and Kashmir, raising it from 100 days to 150 days. Lieutenant Governor
Manoj Sinha welcomed this decision.
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare had suggested giving an extra
50 days of work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
(MGNREGA). This benefit is meant for areas in the Union Territory that were
affected by floods, cloudbursts, and landslides during the 2025–26 financial year.
