The police have put in place strong, multi-layered security across the city to ensure a safe and peaceful New Year celebration. Special attention is being given to East Coast Road (ECR), beaches, popular leisure spots, hotels, pubs, restaurants, and beach resorts.
Around 19,000 police personnel, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, constables, armed officers, and Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) members, along with about 1,500 Home Guards, will be deployed across the city.
Security has been increased at beaches, places of worship, main roads, and other areas where large crowds are expected. The police have said these measures are aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and making sure everyone can celebrate safely.
