Choosing the Right Doctor for Hair Loss

Hair loss is very common, and it affects people of all ages. But even though
so many people face this problem, there is still a lot of misunderstanding about
it. Today, you can find advice everywhere — social media influencers giving “hair
tips,” friends recommending home remedies, and gym trainers selling protein
powders claiming they can stop hair fall. With so many voices, it becomes
difficult to know what is true and what is not.
Because of this confusion, many people do not know which doctor they should
visit when their hair fall becomes serious. Some keep trying random products,
some waste money on unproven treatments, and some panic without proper guidance.
Senior dermatologist Dr Madhavi Reddy P explains this issue clearly.
Speaking at South First’s Dakshin Health Summit 2025, she said, “Even
now, some patients ask me, ‘Doctor, do you treat hair problems?’”
Dermatologists are trained to diagnose the real cause behind hair
loss, whether it is due to stress, hormones, nutrition problems, medical
conditions, or genetics. They can also suggest the right treatment,
medicines, or lifestyle changes.
The main message is simple:
If hair fall continues for a long time, becomes severe, or causes bald
patches, it is important to visit a dermatologist instead of relying on
random advice.
Understanding the right doctor to consult can save time, money, and unnecessary
stress — and help people get proper treatment faster.
