Church in Ennore Creates Support Desk for Transgender People

At a time when many LGBTQIA+ people in India are facing difficulties in getting proper gender recognition and equal rights, a small but important step has been taken to support transgender individuals. A Catholic church in Ennore has started a new initiative to help the transgender community.

This effort was introduced by George Antonysamy, the Archbishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madras and Mylapore. He recently announced the setup of a special office that will focus on supporting transgender people.

The office will be located in a small room at Kadarkarai Sagaya Madha Church. Even though the space is simple, its purpose is very meaningful. It will offer guidance, emotional support, and a safe place for transgender individuals, especially those within the Catholic community.

The aim of this initiative is to help transgender people feel accepted, respected, and included. Church leaders hope that this step will encourage more understanding and kindness toward the transgender community.

This move is seen as a positive effort to address the needs of transgender individuals and promote equality, care, and dignity in society.
