ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Cody Bradford pitched effectively for 4 1/3 innings in his first appearance since September 2024. The Texas Rangers defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-0 on Wednesday. Justin Foscue’s two-run triple was a key moment in the game, helping the Rangers score four runs in the third inning.
Bradford had been out of action for 679 days after undergoing elbow surgery in June 2025. Despite facing several batters and walks, he kept the Giants from scoring by pitching around traffic in most innings. He threw 70 pitches while allowing five hits.
Reliever Tyler Alexander got the final outs in the fifth inning, leaving two runners on base. Alexander struck out three batters during his time on the mound.
The Rangers (57-58) won their second straight game after losing six in a row earlier in the season. They are now tied for first place in the AL West, trailing Houston by 1 1/2 games. The Giants (48-67) dropped to 19 games below .500, their worst stretch of the season. They stranded 11 runners and struggled in key situations.
Bradford had a solid performance last season with a 4.28 ERA and helped Texas win the World Series. Foscue’s triple was one of several hits by Texas batters during the game.
The Rangers will face Baltimore on Friday, while the Giants will host Detroit.
