The INDIA alliance in Puducherry is facing criticism after internal confusion and separate contests by Congress reportedly caused major damage to the alliance during the Assembly elections.
According to political observers, Congress contested alone in six constituencies, which allegedly split the votes of DMK and other alliance parties, weakening the INDIA bloc’s overall performance.
The election results have exposed growing internal disagreements within the alliance.
In the Thirubuvanai constituency, TVK candidate Sai Saravanakumar won the election by securing 9,740 votes.
In the same seat, the DMK candidate received 6,630 votes, while Congress, which contested separately, secured 3,561 votes.
Political analysts believe that if the alliance parties had contested together, the combined votes may have changed the outcome of the election.
Similar situations were seen in other constituencies as well.
In Oulgaret, Congress reportedly secured more votes than the VCK candidate, creating further questions about coordination within the alliance.
In Karaikal South, Congress finished in second place ahead of the BJP candidate, again highlighting the complicated political situation among alliance partners.
These results have led to accusations that poor seat-sharing arrangements and “friendly contests” between alliance parties ended up helping rival parties instead.
Political observers say the election has revealed serious weaknesses in alliance management and coordination within the INDIA bloc in Puducherry.
The results are now expected to trigger internal discussions among alliance leaders about future election strategies and seat-sharing decisions.
