Cyclone Ditwah Weakens Near Tamil Nadu Coast

Cyclone Ditwah became weaker on Sunday and changed into a deep depression.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system was lying over
the southwest Bay of Bengal and had moved very close to land by the morning of December
1. It was only about 30 km away from the coastlines of North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,
which means the storm was almost near the shore but had lost much of its strength.
Even though it weakened, the IMD said it could still bring heavy rain, strong winds
and rough sea conditions to the nearby coastal areas.
