Mumbai: Trading on Dalal Street will come to a halt on Thursday, January 15, 2026, as the Indian stock markets will remain closed due to the Municipal Corporation Elections in Maharashtra.
Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have announced that there will be no trading activity during the day. According to official notifications, trading will be suspended in the equity segment, equity derivatives, and electronic gold receipts (EGRs).
The markets will remain shut during the normal trading hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Investors and traders have been advised to plan their transactions accordingly.
Normal trading is expected to resume on the next working day. The temporary closure is in line with standard procedures followed during important elections to ensure smooth conduct of the polling process.
