Former Australian cricketer Damien Martyn, who is 54 years old, has been admitted to a hospital in Queensland after being diagnosed with meningitis. His condition is serious, and doctors have placed him in an induced coma.
Reports say that Martyn fell ill on Boxing Day, December 26. His health condition was confirmed by former Australian Football League (AFL) player Brad Hardie, according to a report by The Guardian.
Speaking to radio station 6PR, Hardie said Martyn is going through a very difficult time. He described it as “the fight of his life” and said everyone is hoping for his recovery because the illness is very serious.
