DGCA Inquiry into IndiGo Disruptions Completed

An inquiry committee headed by Sanjay K. Bramhane, Joint Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has submitted its report on the recent large-scale disruptions of IndiGo flights. The report was handed over on Tuesday evening.

The four-member committee was set up on December 5 to conduct a detailed review of the reasons behind the widespread flight delays and cancellations that affected passengers across the country.

The DGCA had asked the committee to examine whether IndiGo had proper manpower planning in place and if its crew rostering system was stable and efficient. The panel also reviewed how well the airline was prepared to handle operational challenges during periods of high demand.

In addition, the committee was tasked with identifying the main reasons that led to the breakdown of normal flight operations. It was also directed to fix responsibility and accountability for any planning failures that caused the large-scale disruptions.

Sources said the findings of the report will help the DGCA decide on further action to prevent similar incidents in the future. The aviation regulator aims to ensure better operational stability, improved passenger services, and stronger compliance with safety and planning norms by airlines.
