The Director General of Police (DGP) and Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Abhay Kumar Singh, is retiring on Saturday as he reaches the age of superannuation.
Mr. Singh, a 1992-batch IPS officer, began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in the Thoothukudi Sub-Division. Over his 33 years of service, he has held many important positions in the police department. He also served briefly as the DGP in charge of Law and Order.
To honour his long and distinguished service, the police department organized a farewell parade on Friday at Rajarathinam Stadium. Many senior officers attended the event, including DGPs G. Venkataraman and Seema Agrawal, as well as Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A. Arun.
During the farewell, colleagues praised Mr. Singh for his dedication, leadership, and contribution to maintaining law and order in the state. His retirement marks the end of an illustrious career in policing, and he will be remembered for his commitment to public service.
