Red Fort Blast Update: A DNA test has confirmed that one of the bodies
found after the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort was Dr. Umar Nabi Bhat.
Officials said on Thursday that the DNA samples taken from Bhat’s mother
matched one of the unidentified bodies kept at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi.
Police collected Bhat’s mother’s DNA samples from Pulwama in Jammu and
Kashmir and sent them to Delhi for testing. The results proved that the
body was Dr. Umar Nabi Bhat’s.
Investigators believe Bhat played an important role in the blast. Police
are still trying to find out who helped him and what the reason for the
attack was. Security agencies are also checking if this explosion is
linked to any other recent terror activities.
The area near Red Fort is still under tight security as forensic experts
gather more evidence and study the damage caused by the blast.
