TK Govindan, a former CPM leader and independent MLA, has accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of politically targeting former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Govindan claimed that the ED’s move to seek registration of an FIR against Vijayan is politically motivated. According to him, the action is intended not only to target Vijayan but also to create divisions within the INDIA bloc in Kerala.
He alleged that the ED’s move is part of an attempt to weaken the political alliance and reduce cooperation among its members. Govindan said the action could help isolate Vijayan and create differences between political parties that are part of the broader opposition alliance.
The former CPM leader also questioned the basis of the proposed action against Vijayan. He claimed that the move was not supported by factual evidence and instead reflected political considerations.
Govindan’s comments come amid continuing political debates over investigations involving senior political leaders. The role of central investigative agencies has frequently become a subject of political discussion, with opposition leaders often accusing them of being used for political purposes.
The allegations have added another layer to the ongoing political debate in Kerala. Govindan maintained that the focus should be on facts and evidence rather than political interests.
