ED Raids Goa Club Owners in Fire Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been conducting search operations since early Friday morning, January 23, 2026, at the homes and offices of the Luthra brothers and Ajay Gupta. They own the nightclub “Birch by Romeo Lane” in Arpora, Goa, where a tragic fire during a party last month killed 25 people.

Officials said the searches are part of a larger investigation into possible money-laundering and financial irregularities linked to the club. The ED suspects that the club may have been operating without proper permissions or in violation of rules. The agency is also examining the role of the owners and promoters in running the business.

The fire broke out on December 6, 2025, when the club was hosting a crowded party. According to reports, many guests were trapped inside as the fire spread quickly. Despite rescue efforts, 25 people lost their lives. The incident shocked the state and led to widespread anger and calls for strict action against those responsible.

Following the tragedy, authorities began checking whether the club had proper safety measures, licenses, and clearances. Questions were raised about fire safety systems, emergency exits, and overcrowding at the venue.

The ED is now reviewing financial records, bank transactions, and business documents to find out if there were any illegal dealings or violations of the law. If any wrongdoing is found, strict legal action may be taken against those involved. The investigation is still ongoing.
