Enthusiastic Welcome for Stalin in Kolathur

M.K. Stalin, the president of the DMK and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, received a massive and emotional welcome when he visited the Kolathur constituency on May 5, 2026, to thank the people for their support.

Even though Stalin lost the Kolathur seat in the recent election to V.S. Babu, a former DMK leader who contested as a TVK candidate, he still chose to personally visit the constituency. His visit reflected the same advice he had given to all DMK candidates after the election — to meet voters directly and express gratitude for their support, regardless of the results.

As Stalin traveled through Kolathur, thousands of party workers, supporters, and local residents gathered on the roadsides to greet him. The large crowds created heavy traffic congestion in several areas, as people eagerly waited to catch a glimpse of their leader.

The atmosphere was highly emotional. Many DMK workers were deeply moved by Stalin’s visit and openly cried as they welcomed him. Standing in an open vehicle, Stalin appeared touched by the overwhelming support and repeatedly appealed to his supporters not to cry.

P.K. Sekarbabu, former minister and senior DMK leader who accompanied Stalin during the visit, was also visibly emotional. He was seen wiping away tears several times while interacting with party workers and residents.

The visit became more than just a thank-you tour; it turned into a strong display of loyalty and emotional connection between Stalin and his supporters in Kolathur. Despite the electoral setback, the reception showed that Stalin continues to enjoy significant personal support among many voters and party cadres.

Political observers noted that the visit also served as an important morale booster for DMK workers after the election defeat. It demonstrated Stalin’s willingness to remain connected with the people and maintain party unity during a challenging political period.
