India’s Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav met Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen in New Delhi to discuss preparations for upcoming global climate meetings.
The meeting focused on the Pre-COP discussions in Fiji and preparations for COP31 in Turkey. Both sides discussed key climate issues and the need for cooperation between India and Australia ahead of the international negotiations.
During the meeting, Yadav highlighted India’s progress in climate action over the past decade. He spoke about the country’s efforts to address climate change and strengthen its clean-energy and environmental initiatives.
Yadav also expressed India’s support for Australia as it takes a leading role in the COP31 negotiation process. The two ministers discussed the importance of working together to ensure meaningful discussions and cooperation among countries on climate-related challenges.
The meeting comes as countries prepare for the next round of international climate negotiations, where issues such as reducing emissions, climate finance, clean energy and support for developing nations are expected to remain important topics.
