Extra MTC Buses During Egmore Station Work

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) will run extra buses between Chengalpattu and Tambaram because Egmore railway station is being redeveloped.

The Southern Railway will reduce the number of suburban trains running on the Beach–Tambaram section for 45 days starting February 20. This is to allow workers to carry out civil construction work safely at the station.

To help passengers who usually travel by train, the MTC will run 44 additional buses. Out of these, 16 buses will start from a temporary bus stand at Royapuram and go to Guduvanchery via Tambaram and Kilambakkam. This route is numbered R18. The other 28 buses will run from Royapuram to Kilambakkam on route 18A.

These extra bus services will be available from February 20 to April 5. Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly, as train services will be limited during this period.
