A boiler burst at a glue factory in eastern Pakistan on Friday, killing at least
15 workers and injuring seven others. Police said they have arrested the factory
manager and are looking for the factory owner, who ran away after the explosion.
The reason for the blast at the factory in Faisalabad, Punjab province, is still
unknown.
The explosion caused heavy damage to the factory and nearby houses. It also
started a fire and created panic in the area, said local official Raja Jahangir.
Police officer Mohammad Aslam said an investigation is going on. Punjab Chief
Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her sympathy and told officials to make
sure the injured workers get the best medical treatment.
Industrial accidents and factory fires are common in Pakistan because safety
rules are often not followed. In 2024, a similar boiler explosion injured 12
workers at a textile factory in Faisalabad. Just last week, a firecracker
factory blast in Karachi killed four people.
