Felt Strong, Enjoyed Return: Brevis on Comeback After Injury

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), April 15 (ANI): Chennai Super Kings batter Dewald Brevis expressed happiness about returning to competitive cricket after overcoming an injury. He shared his joy during a post-match interview with JioHotstar following his side’s 32-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2026.

Brevis mentioned how much he enjoyed being back on the field, facing the crowd, and adapting to the conditions. Despite having been sidelined due to a side strain, he felt confident and strong during the match. He highlighted the fun of playing again and expressed gratitude for the victory.

The right-handed batter also praised his young teammate Ayush Mhatre, calling him “special” and encouraging him to keep playing naturally without pressure. Brevis admired how Mhatre reacts to each ball and plays his game fearlessly.

In the match, Chennai Super Kings were asked to bat first by Kolkata Knight Riders. They scored 192/5 in 20 overs, with Sanju Samson (48 runs) and Dewald Brevis (41 runs) contributing significantly. Kartik Tyagi was the standout bowler for CSK.

During their chase, KKR struggled, losing key wickets due to a strong spell from Noor Ahmed. Despite a partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, they fell short and ended at 160/7. This left KKR winless so far in the tournament, while CSK moved up to eighth place with four points in the standings.

Chennai Super Kings secure a strong victory against Kolkata Knight Riders as Brevis makes a successful return after injury.
